Phoenix - Yavapai County Sheriff David Rhodes, president of the Arizona Sheriff's Association, issued the following statement regarding Maricopa County Sheriff and ASA vice president Paul Penzone's announcement to retire early and not seek reelection:
“We certainly wish Paul well in his retirement. However, he will be dearly missed by the Arizona Sheriffs. Paul always sought to work with the other Sheriffs and all law enforcement on critical statewide public safety issues. Paul has been a valued and trusted colleague - a true lawman who brought respect and dedicated leadership to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office. His voice and steady hand will be missed. We will miss his love of the office, his dedication to safe communities, and his Italian recipes. Sheriffs across the state wish Paul the best in his retirement.”
